Victims of clerical sex abuse have reacted furiously to Pope Benedict’s claim yesterday that paedophilia wasn’t considered an “absolute evil” as recently as the 1970s.

In his traditional Christmas address yesterday to cardinals and officials working in Rome, Pope Benedict XVI also claimed that child pornography was increasingly considered “normal” by society.

“In the 1970s, paedophilia was theorised as something fully in conformity with man and even with children,” the Pope said.

“It was maintained — even within the realm of Catholic theology — that there is no such thing as evil in itself or good in itself. There is only a ‘better than’ and a ‘worse than’. Nothing is good or bad in itself.”

So now according to the pope who is the head of the Catholic church is telling us that Child pornography is “normal” and there is no such thing as good or evil???? only better an worse?????

Therefore i cant do no evil?

If i rape or murder someone I’m not evil in the eyes of the catholic church i am just worse then someone who doesn’t?????????????

A Roman Catholic bank in Germany has apologised after admitting it bought stocks in defence, tobacco and birth control companies.

Don’t you love hypocrites, I guess its not a sin as long as the church is making money.

Der Spiegel newspaper discovered the bank had invested 580,000 euros (£495,310, $826,674) in British arms company BAE Systems.

It also invested 160,000 euros in American birth control pill maker Wyeth and 870,000 euros in tobacco companies.

The bank apologised for behaviour “not in keeping with ethical standards”.

Is the Catholic Church running out of money??

I know the Catholic Church has billions in assets, but their “business” side of things is an entity called The Holy See dosen’t seem to be going to well, (which in my understanding of The Holy See is they run the Vatican’s Newspaper and other media as well as other business the Church has going.)

The Holy See reports that the Vatican ran a deficit in 2007, hurt by the weak dollar affecting the value of generous collection baskets from U.S. faithful and by steep costs of running its media. The Vatican issued financial figures showing a nearly $13.5 million US deficit last year. It cited the sharp drop in the exchange rate for the U.S. dollar. The Vatican pays many of its expenses in euros, a currency that has soared against the U.S. dollar. The financial report, released by the Holy See’s press office, listed revenues of $371.97 million against expenses of $386.27 million.

Then i came across this from only a few days ago. I don’t know if it has anything to do with anything really but i find it odd that the Israel Government is holding money from the Catholic Church.
