There has been a little bit of a mention in the media regarding new internet Laws and Filters, to block child porn and other illegal internet activity, problem is it wont stop there as i mentioned in a previous post - Australia introduces web filters to censor the internet
Now lets take a look at the new laws / regulations being put into place…
These new laws will fall under the Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement (ACTA) which will be enforced in:
- Australia,
Champion
- Canada,
- the European Union,
- Japan,
- Jordan,
- the Republic of Korea,
- Mexico, Morocco,
- New Zealand,
- Singapore,
- Switzerland,
- the United Arab Emirates,
- the United States.
How bad will it be?? Lets start with people downloading Movies & Music.
A document leaked to the public in 2008 includes a provision to force Internet Service Providers (ISPs) to provide information about suspected copyright infringer’s without a warrant
So download a movie / music and your ISP will contact the Feds / Police and you will be fined / arrested for downloading copyrighted material.
No for the worst part:
The promoters and drafters of ACTA have created a mixed bag of titles, types of infringement and enforcement measures, in which life-endangering fake products and organized crime activities are considered together with non-for-profit activities that play a role in access to knowledge, innovation, culture and freedom of expression. ACTA would create a de facto presumption of infringement.
Which would basically give governments the power to shut down what ever sites they want, this site gives access to knowledge and freedom of expression, once the new laws are past this site along with Millions of others can be shut down / blocked because we are providing you information the government doesn’t want you to see.
Shouldn’t it be your choice if you want to come to this site for information, shouldn’t it be your choice if you want to believe it or not! this is Fascism ideology, the government will control what we can and can’t do on the net and the only ones who benefit from this will be corporations….. just like in the real world.
